Thanks to Ben the manager of Under Kontrol for giving us a few informations about the Crew, the Album and their Music!

UNDER KONTROL was born in 2007 from the collaboration between 4 french beatboxers: Mister Lips , Tiko , Fayabraz and Micflow The formation was first a project then became a BAND. Under Kontrol won the Beatbox France Championship in 2008 , then in 2009 , they won the Beatbox World Championship in Berlin . The show and tracks of the group are built around the universe of Turntablism . Influenced by artists like The X-Ecutioners , Dj Qbert , Dj Babu , C2C or Birdy Nam Nam, they explore various musical styles and turn it into a Turntable thing ....but in Beatbox .

UNDER KONTROL put out their first Album on October 10th , the name of the album is " 1 " .

Human Beatbox is a universal art !

You don't need to speak the same language to communicate by the beatbox .
We had to find a title that express this idea . We found it by the mathematics , which is the only universal language in the world , mathematics are the same everywhere , numbers are the same all over the world . This was the first reason why we called it "1" . Then the 1 means more to us .... this is our 1st album , the album is made only with 1 instrument , the mouth , the Human Beatbox . We are four but we produce 1music , We are 1 band , and 1 is also a musical concept used in Funk Music , the "one" . For all these reasons, the title came to us like in a logical way . You can also read "Strictly From The Mouth" as a subtitle . This is like our slogan, our leitmotiv !!

Many Beatbox artists came out with beatbox or vocal projects. We love some of these albums, and find musically many good things! It's good that beatbox is getting bigger each year . The issue we had about was that, amongst all these projects , you couldn't find just one where the beatbox was 100% assumed !! We were like: we miss something where the beatbox is expressed by itself! You can listen and refer to any beatboxer album ( it's not about free tapes on the web , generally well produced ) , they all include the beatbox in tracks with instruments , use the 100% beatbox parts as interludes , beatbox used as a beat ( sometimes really nice ones by the way!) for a rapper or for a ladysinger , additional keyboards , kaos pads , or groups with 1 beatboxer workin with choir singers . The esthetic codes of beatbox were for us not exploited 100% !! Not assumed 100 % !!! As if artists were affraid to bother , to annoy people , already at a step to use beatbox as data sounds to create something really "numeric" finally .

Some of these are really nice musically but we found it like a pity that we couldn't find a real "Beatbox Album" .

Where you could hear music , original creations , beatbox techniques , entertainment and really with NO EFFECTS that truly denature what you would do with One Mic , without any machine . Our goal with Under Kontrol is really to make music by the beatbox and not making beatbox by the music ... our art got to exist by itself , we can't be only covermen , we now got to push the beatbox higher and change it into the mind of people , beatboxers are not only people that redo a famous track between 2 gigs on stage , beatboxers are not only beats for rappers or singers , as Kenny Muhammad says "Beatbox is a revolution", beatboxers can rock the house with ONE MIC , and this is an advantage a beatboxer got upon every other musician . We keep this advantage and try to grab people into our musical universe , until you maybe forget this is performed by 4 mouths , listen the music and watch the show . Under Kontrol is first of all a live group , we consider that the beatbox is 50% listening and 50% watching . In this album our goal was to keep this energy the stage gives you , to stay fat without use any effects or octaver or whatever else ....

We first thought the recording technique and obtained what we wanted to !! We are satisfied of the color of the sound on this album and it's really fat , we hope the beatboxers will like it and finally find the codes they practice in their art . It might be arrogant but we pretend to offer the beatboxers the "FIRST BEATBOX ALBUM" and offer our album as one more little drop in the ocean of the Music , cause we finally pretend to be just musicians .....but strictly from the mouth "
